Dr. Ashley Williams

Main Areas of Expertise general and applied microbiology, molecular genetics of bacteria and phage, DNA repair, mutagenesis and genome stability, innate immunity Secondary Areas of Expertise Cell cycle control, cell biology, eukaryotic genetics (yeast, mouse, humans, etc.), stress responses Biography Dr. A. Blake Williams completed his Ph.D. at Indiana University (Bloomington, IN, USA) working on the mechanisms of stress-induced mutation and DNA repair in Escherichia coli. He then went on to a post-doctoral fellowship, dividing his time between Harvard University (Cambridge, MA, USA) and the University of Southern California (Los Angeles, CA, USA), where he studied cell cycle checkpoints and DNA damage and repair during post-embryonic development in Caenorhabditis elegans. His most recent scientific work explored novel innate immune responses and pathogen-sensing mechanisms in relation to a new type of inflammation-like pathway. Qualifications PhD Microbiology and Genetics, Indiana University – Bloomington, IN, USA BSc Microbiology, Indiana University – Bloomington, IN, USA Current Activity Senior scientist and instructor – Mathematics and Natural Sciences and Medical School Faculties, University of Cologne, Cologne, Germany
